Amnesty International is a global movement active since 1961 in over 150 countries and territories campaigning to end grave abuses of human rights. Their vision is for every person to enjoy all the rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international rights standards.

AI are independent of any government, political ideology, economic interest or religion and are funded mainly by membership and public donations.

Karin will speak about women’s rights in general and the campaign ‘My Body My Rights’ in particular.

Being able to make your own decisions about your health, body and sexual life is a basic human right. Yet all over the world many are persecuted for making these choices – or prevented from doing so at all. A woman is refused contraception because she doesn’t have her husband’s permission. A man is harassed by police because he is gay. A teenager is denied a lifesaving termination because abortion is illegal in her country.

Wherever you are, wherever you live you have the right to live without fear, violence or discrimination. It’s your body. Know your rights.
