General meeting April 4, 2017
The title of this month’s talk is ‘The Art of Blanket Forts’.
Isn’t that intriguing?
Our speaker, who is a young Belgian artist (°1988), tried to translate the Dutch word ‘geborgenheid’ through images this way. She has yet to find a suitable translation for this particular Dutch word but that isn’t necessarily problematic as it could lead to conversation.
The concept touches on safety and security, but for her it is also very much about architecture and the use of space, about memories of building camps out of blankets then and immigration crisis now. About the basic human need for shelter against real estate market prices. About emotional preciousness versus material value.
Venue: Theater Hotel, Arenbergstraat 30, Antwerp
Time: 10 am for coffee, meeting starts at 10:30
