You are what you write

Without knowing so, we convey a large amount of information about ourselves when we write. Of course there is knowledge in the content, but the way in which we write – our writing style – can reveal our gender, age, region of origin and even some of our personality traits.

This month’s speaker is a Computational linguist and he will explain how they use computer programs to find these differences in writing between (groups of) people; why they are interesting; and how they can be useful in practical applications.
