ABIW Day Trip to Dunkirk on Saturday, September 29, 2018
Christine De Brabandere has very kindly offered to be our guide for the day and has put together the following schedule:
- Leaving Antwerpen at 8 am sharp: Crown Plaza
- Arrival at Dunkerque at 10 am (approx)
- Stop at the memorial for the British soldiers who died at the evacuation of Dunkerque (cemetery of Dunkerque)
- Coffee at a cafe/restaurant l’Iguane: digue de mer
- 11/11.30 am visit of the museum operation Dynamo not far away from the cafe and restaurant.
- 12.30/1.00 am lunch at the restaurant La Patatière on the promenade with the view of the evacuation site
- 2.00/ 2.30 pm to Bergues (only 15 km from Dunkirk)
- Visit of this delightful little town with its impressive ramparts
- 4.00/4.30 pm coffee or tea at le Vauban : tearoom restaurant located in the walls of the city
- Return to Antwerp
Due to the extra cost of the bus as we are going into France, and the decision to make this trip entirely self-funding, the cost will be €60 pp for members and guests alike. This will include the bus, lunch (drinks not included), two coffee breaks and the entrance to the cemetery and museum.
