“Traces left behind by German expats”
A guided tour October 24, 2019.
Before the outbreak of WWI a large group of German expats lived and worked in Antwerp. This tour explores the German era through stories, buildings, family names and interiors from that time.
Our walking route follows the occupations and lives of German traders, artists and architects and reveals the emotional conflict that the war brought to these expats.
The siege of Antwerp in 1914 tested their loyalty to the fatherland and turned their daily lives upside down.
Come along and join in to find out more about this interesting part of Antwerp history.
